Obituary of Florence Eleanor Gibb
The death of Florence Eleanor Gibb of Chipman, NB occurred Saturday, August 13, 2011 in Oromocto, NB
Born February 28th, 1921 in Brighton, England she was the daughter of the late Jack and Rose (East) Billett.
She met & married Frederick in Brighton, England during the 2nd World War. She sailed to Canada and arrived at Pier 21, Halifax in 1946. Florence had an adventurous & joyful spirit that carried her through those first long years in Canada. In the early days she enjoyed walking, berry picking, reading and hunting down a bargain at a yard sale. Her family and friends remember her as a great story teller with a quick wit, that could keep you entertained for hours. She loved her family and we all felt blessed when we visited her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survived by her son, Michael Robert Gibb (Annette) of Chipman, NB; her daughters, Linda Dianne Wiggins (John) of Youngs Cove, NB and Jean Margaret Laskey (Frederick) of Chipman, NB; grandchildren, Karen Rose Candy (David), Jeffrey Andrew Wiggins (Julie), Janine Ruth Gibb (Chris) and Jennifer Lynn Gibb (Sascha); great grandchildren, Olivia Rose Candy, Sophia Eva Candy and Alexis Brooklyn Duguay; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Florence was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Robert Gibb in January 2003; sisters, Audrey Bernard and Joyce Taylor.
Resting at Hogg Funeral Services (43 Main Street, Chipman, NB) with visiting on Monday evening from 7-9pm and from where Funeral Service will take place 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 16th, 2011. Interment will take place in Red Bank United Church Cemetery, Chipman, NB. For those who wish, donations made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), the Canadian Diabetes Society or the charity of ones choice would be appreciated by the family.
