Obituary of Marlene Theresa Carney

With profound sadness, the family of Marlene Theresa Carney announces her peaceful passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Friday, November 8, 2024 with her loved ones by her side.

Born on a cold January day, Marlene was the beloved daughter of the late Gilbert Joseph Boudreau and Bessie Bella Mae LeBritton.

Marlene’s love and warmth will be deeply missed by her husband and soulmate, Rusty Carney; her cherished daughters, Kimberly Richardson (Brandon) and Melanie Leeman (Brady); and her adored grandchildren, Sawyer, Harper, Sage, and Asher, who were the light of her life. She is also lovingly remembered by her brothers, Hazen LeBritton (Faye) and Junior Boudreau (Margaret); her sisters, Jessie Butler (Don), Jean Grant, Clara Bostick (Bobby), and Betty Maranda (Leon); as well as by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends.

Marlene had a gift for baking, infusing every treat she made with the love and joy that defined her spirit. She found her greatest happiness in family moments, especially on the beach just steps from her home on Grand Lake. With a 38-year career at Scotiabank, Marlene’s kindness and dedication touched many lives. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Marlene was predeceased by her brother, George Boudreau, and her sisters, Mae Betts and Mary Colwell.

In remembrance of Marlene, and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by her family.

Funeral service will take place at 11:00AM Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at St.Barbara’s Catholic Church Parish (240 Main Street, Minto). Interment will take place at the Newcastle Center Cemetery Extension with reception to follow at the Minto Senior’s Hall (11 O’Leary Lane, Minto).

With heartfelt gratitude, Rusty, Kim, and Melanie wish to thank Marlene's beloved niece, Brenda Carney, and her lifelong friend who has become family, Rita Sivitilli, for the unwavering love and support they showed to Marlene. In addition, they would like to thank the team of nurses and doctors of 4SE for the exceptional care that was given.
