Obituary of Edna Ethel Helen Hopkins

It is with great sadness that the family of a dear mother, grandmother and friend, Edna Ethel Helen Hopkins announce her passing on Thursday, September 5th, 2024, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB.

Born on a chilly December day, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Ella (Hickey) Parker.

Edna loved her family dearly, she is survived by her son, Roger Hopkins (Kathy) of Chipman, N.B; her daughters, Tammy Barton of Chipman, NB and Audrey Morrell (Allan) of Minto, NB; grandchildren, Gregory, Mitchel (Doris), Amanda (John), Cortney (Adam) and Beck; great grandchildren, Steel, Kody, Colin, Kaylee and Kaleb; sister, Juanita Carson (Fred) of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.

Edna was a loving and caring wife to her husband of 49 years, Goldie. In later years, she devoted her time and energy to caring for him at home, until his passing in 2007. They shared a love that will last forever in the hearts of all who knew them. Edna dedicated her life to her family, and to being the most kind and devoted mom to her children and grandchildren.

 In addition to her parents and love of her life, Edna was also predeceased by her son, Gordon Hopkins; grandson, Jason Hopkins; sister, Marion Hargrove; brother, Royden Parker and her beloved canine companion, Molly. 

Whether it be the excitement in a game of bingo or the shared joy of a conversation over a cup of tea or coffee, Edna always enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by everyone.

Honouring Edna’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral. Interment will take place at a later date in Redbank Cemetery in Chipman, NB.

For those who wish to donate to honor Edna’s memory, her family requests the Chipman Elementary School Breakfast Program and thanks you for your gesture of kindness.

Edna’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful nurses, staff and doctors at the Chalmers Hospital for the excellent care they provided.
