Dr. Robert Douglas Oulton Brewer (Bob)
Bob passed away peacefully at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick on July 21, 2024, in his 84 th year.
Survived by second wife of 56 years, Nancy (Atack) and predeceased by first wife Margaret (Brennan).
Survived by children, Douglas (Nancy), Robert (Jen), and Catherine (Robert Auld).
Survived by grandchildren Tyler, Trevor, Megan, Ashley, Tristan, Lindsay, Chelsea, Courtney, Cayla, Sydney, Madison, Harrison, Benjamin, Ethan, Ellie, and Arya and predeceased by grandson, Joshua.
Survived by great grandchildren Aiden, Jaxon, and Raeburn.
Predeceased by parents Richard and Viola, brothers Richard (Lorraine), Gary, and Paul (Irene), and survived by brothers James (Pat) and Donald (Marilyn).
Bob earned a BScE and Ph.D. from Queen’s University and enjoyed a very successful engineering career. Despite not being much for travel, Bob worked on projects around the
world. He was much sought after for his expertise across multiple disciplines, including Nuclear (CANDU reactors, and the Chernobyl clean-up), Transportation (Urban Transit projects), and
Academic (the renowned Sudbury Neutrino Observatory).
Bob loved competitive sports, as a spectator, a recognized player, and as a nationally certified coach. He enjoyed hockey, baseball, curling, and golf (not well). In retirement, he focused on
boating and fishing and loved living on Grand Lake in New Brunswick.
Bob was civic-minded, contributing in many ways to his local community and churches. He served the Oakville community as a Town Councillor.
He was fiercely proud of his family, demonstrating his love to his wife and children and, later as a loving grandfather and great grandfather.
Bob will be remembered for his easy-going personality, big heart and his great sense of humour, but also for wanting to do things his way and he did that to the very end.
Funeral Service will take place 3:00PM Saturday, August 10, 2024 from Saint Michael & All Angels Anglican Church, Minto, NB. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations made to Saint Michael & All Angels, Anglican Church or donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
