Obituary of Joseph James Breau
Joseph James (Jim) Breau, 86 years of age, of Oromocto, NB died peacefully at Hospice House, Fredericton, NB on December 10th.
Jim was born in Amherst, NS July 28, 1937 to James Joseph Breau and Eva (Nee Estabrooks) Breau.
Jim joined the Canadian Armed forces in 1955 as a member of the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada. His military service included postings and tours to Germany, Cyprus, and CFB Gagetown. Jim was a skilled marksman and a Canadian Forces Combat Shooting Team instructor where he attended the International Small Arms Competition in Bisley, United Kingdom on several occasions as both a competitor and instructor. He was the recipient of the cloth badge award for Bisley marksmanship. He continued his service with the 2ndBattalion, Royal Canadian Regiment (2 RCR) until his retirement as a Warrant Officer in 1977. Jim then took on a second career as an Oromocto Public School Bus driver for 15 years.
Jim was an avid hunter known to be accompanied by his bird dogs while woodcock hunting, and he was well known for his deer hunting and tracking skills. He also was a hunting guide for many years.
Jim was preceded in death by his father James and mother Eva, and younger brothers Frank and Skip all from Amherst, NS. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Yvonne (Bragdon) Breau, sons Joseph (Katrina) Breau of Rooth, NB and Jason (Chie) Breau of Calgary, Alberta, grandson Evan (Janika) Breau and great-granddaughter Rylee Katherine Breau of French Lake, NB, and by his loving canine companion Dee.
A mass of funeral service will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 25 Loiseville St., Oromocto on Saturday, December 16th, 2023 at 11:00AM followed by a reception in the church hall.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hogg Funeral & Cremation Services. There will be no visitation.
