Obituary of Herbert Roy Demmons
It is with deep sadness that the family of Herbert Roy Demmons announces his passing on August 17, 2023 at Hospice House Fredericton.
Born in Hardwood Ridge, NB on November 10th, 1940. He was the son of the late Jack and Helen (Thompson) Demmons.
Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Judith (Judy) M. (VandenBorre). son, Sheldon (Ina) and his grandsons Justin (Jill), Jake (Julia); brothers, Jack (Fran) and George (Karen); sisters, Barbara McDermott and Janice MacKay; brother-in-law, Maurice VandenBorre (Donna); sisters-in-law, Joanne Richard and Nadine Taylor (Tom); many nieces, nephews and God children all of whom he loved dearly.
Special to him also are Tom Perry (Mary) & family of Beresford, NB and Mark Sinnis (Carol) & family of Stewiacke, NS.
He leaves behind many friends.
In addition to his parents, Herb was predeceased by brother, Willard (Martha); sister-in-law, Sharon MacIvor (Ron); brothers-in-law, Bob McDermott and Ken MacKay.
Herb was a teacher in Minto for many years as well as a Red Seal carpenter. A councillor in the Village of Minto, a volunteer for Minto Resource Centre and Manager of Ye Olde Miners Hockey Team for several years. He was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Many called him the “salt of the earth”. A faithful member of St. Michaels Anglican Church and served in many capacities over the years.
Funeral Service will take place 2:00PM Monday, August 21st, 2023 from Saint Michael & All Angels, Anglican Church, Minto with reception to follow. For those who wish, donations made to Saint Michael and all Angels Anglican Church or Hospice Fredericton would be greatly appreciated by the family.
