Well put Chris. To Colin, Lorna, Candace and friends, our deepest condolences. I last saw Vernon in July of 2002. He was spotted by the family everywhere in Freddy, most often at the city square taking everything in. The kids were using Vernon within a game called I Spy with my little eye... he was everywhere :) We invited Vernon to my 50th birthday that was hosted at Boyd and Judy's. Vernon was truly one of the Maritime's most interesting man. I will send a photo after I figure out this website.

To Colin, Candace and Friends of Vernon:
As I sit here late night in Australia, I learn of the passing of my friend. Vernon was in my class in Grade 8 and we hung out a bit then as kids do in the early years of South Devon - Vernon lived on Prince St. and I visited many times on our way back from school. We lost track when Vernon started travelling and working overseas in many places, but we hooked up again when I lived in Hong Kong and Vernon was teaching in South Korea. In fact, as I had lived in Muscat, Oman for a year, Vernon started teaching in a place just north of Muscat where I flew into, so when I was home in 2018, we really hooked up and spent a few hours going over our travels in many countries. It was the last time I saw him, but for two South Devon boys, it was like we had never been apart.
Vernon was a one-off - just way too intelligent really, or at least just on another level. I loved talking to him - he sent me his books of poems when we were both overseas and told me I was "mentioned" in one of his books just as a character....wow, that was pretty unreal to me. I was honoured really although it wasn't a big deal, but still......now, I honour him as one of the most interesting persons I have ever met.....good for you Vernon.....
I pass on my sincere condolences to Colin and Lorna.....and to Candace - Vernon talked of you often and was very proud.
Sincerely,
Chris Fisher, Brisbane
